A Poem - Kingfisher (2024)

I sat upon a tussock and

A fiery dart came close to land

Upon a weeping willow tree.


Majestic in a red-blue raiment,

You are the only rightful claimant

Of kingship that will ever be,


Along Tean Brook, beyond the fields,

Where my childhood’s bounty yields

Halcyon memories that I see,


In my mind’s eye, my spirit lifting,

As I go on merrily sifting

My childhood memory.
